One of my favourite astrologers, the late Nikola Stojanovic developed the degree theory. You can check his books and articles/courses for what that theory is more deeply about but I want to dissect one of the degrees that he mentions in his work.
The 22nd degree = to kill or be killed. As well as the Capricorn degree.
Important to understand here with this is that Nikola Stojanovic attached special meaning to this specific degree, and as You can see, it is not the lightest of meanings. When I first heard it and saw example charts, I was kind of convinced of this but I’m always curious and learning more. Questioning basically everything and looking for more proof.
As well as many people who have come in contact with the theory have discovered the infamous 22nd degree in their charts as well. Which then makes them very scared for their lives. Some of these people have also taken consultations with me in a 1 to 1 capacity. My message to them has always been = the 22nd degree does not guarantee You being killed by someone.
I wanted to ease some of those fears as well as show that the 22nd degree does not guarantee being killed or becoming a killer through multiple examples. So that others can see that the difficult degree is not always what it’s made out to be.
Charts of celebrities
I will now present many celebrity charts who were again, infamously killed. I will show some examples where the 22nd degree was prominent, and present a lot of charts with many famous people who were killed but don’t have the 22nd degree in their charts. You will see that a person doesn’t have to have the 22nd degree in their chart to be killed. Nor does it make a person a killer immediately. There are many factors that go into it and just one degree does not make it so.
In the second part of this piece, I will show some celebrity charts (and serial killer charts) who killed another human being. Why did I use celebrity charts? Because it’s easier to get the birth data, as simple as that.

The chart of Nipsey Hussle, rapper and entrepreneur. On March 31, 2019, Hussle was shot at least 10 times in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles at 3:18 p.m.
And Placidus.
We can see from the chart that he does not in fact have any planets or influences on 22 degrees. The closest we can see to the difficult degree are MC on 21 degrees and 40 minutes. And Saturn on 21 degrees 50 minutes. It is also important to mention that I do not know if the charts have been rectified and can’t confirm the validity of the birth data. But still, nothing on 22 degrees and this famous person was brutally shot dead (killed).

And Placidus.
We can see that he only has Vertex on 22 degrees and 35 minutes. AS much as I want this to add to the validity of the degree, it is not the strongest of indicators. No personal planets or no angles on 22 degrees, nothing else there.

After reading the story I figured the Moon, ruler of the 7th (in this case the Sun) or maybe Venus could be on the 22nd degree because it was his wife who murdered him or killed him but not in this case. Another interesting thing to notice is that both ruler of the 10th and MC Jupiter is again on 21 degrees. The only influence here on 22 degrees is Chiron. And contrary to popular belief, it’s not a major influence. For example, the developer of the degree theory Nikola Stojanovic did not even use Chiron.
Let’s keep on digging.
What about examples where there is a 22nd degree and a very obvious one? Unfortunately, I have one of those as well.
The famous singer and songwriter Marvin Gaye. Those of You who don’t know, he was shot dead after a physical altercation with his father while resolving a domestic dispute between him and his mother. Everything here has to do with the home and family. And You can see that the Moon is on 22 degrees of Virgo in the 3rd house.

It is also worth a mention that we again see the 21 degree repeating in the chart. Furthermore, the 22nd-degree repeats in the Placidus system and both the 6th and 12th house cusps are also 22 degrees. Both houses we can associate with problems/altercations (6th house), leaving the body (12th house), and to some extent, death (natural house of death is the 8th house).

I expected to see at least something on 22 degrees but nothing. And even the 21st degree is untouched in his chart (I started to notice a pattern with the first charts). As You can now start to see that although the 22nd degree might be associated with being killed or being a killer, it doesn’t mean that You will be 100%.
We do have to mention the house cusps here because by the Placidus house system, again the 6th and 12th house cusps are on 22 degrees. A pattern perhaps? Too soon to tell. But no angles, no major influences on 22 degrees for such a public killing.

Nothing here. I was expecting to find at least something at 22 degrees in his chart. Black Moon Lilith is but it’s a minor influence at best. So far I believe You can see that You don’t have to have 22 degrees in Your chart to be killed.
What about the fashion industry?

Not even a house cusp in this example at 22 degrees.
Sharon Tate, the actress who was murdered by the Charlie Manson cult members. No sign of the 22 degree. Interesting to see that her AC is on 21 degrees and 28 minutes of Cancer. Can there be a mistake with the birth record? Although, this time of birth is taken from a birth certificate. Even with the Placidus system, the closest thing is Ascendant at 21 degrees and 28 minutes.
This was about the time I started feeling really bad for these people. Not the easiest research I have ever done, reading all these gruesome stories. Painful.
Can we find another one with a prominent 22 degree?
Abraham Lincoln and we can see immediately that the AC is sitting right on 22 degrees. So we have at least one more example. Worth a mention that the birth time has a rating of B and is taken from his biography. Here I have two different times for the birth. One is Sunday, February 12, 1809, 6:54 AM and the other Sunday, February 12, 1809, 6:57 AM. The 54 time has AC on 22 and 57 doesn’t. Hard to say without extensive rectification which is the right one. At least adds some validity to the 22nd degree maybe being more prone to what it was once associated with. But I’m personally not convinced at all.
What makes this chart even more intriguing, the 57 minute time by Placidus has the same pattern, 6th and 12th house cusps on 22 degrees. The pattern continues.
On another note = look at that massive stellium in the 1st house! Talk about someone who was born to be a leader.

Singer Selena. We can this time see the ruler of the AC Saturn on 22 degrees so again one for team 22 degrees.

Worth a mention that Solar fire calculates it at 21 degrees 59 minutes. Astrotheme.com for example has her Saturn on 22 degrees 00 minutes. Go figure.
For people who are getting scared, please remember all the charts where 22 degrees was not prominent or existent!!!

Birth data in question. MC and Sun are quite close here but interesting to notice that Neptune is on 22 degrees and in the house of death this time. Furthermore, the 11th and 5th house cusps are at22 degrees as well. One point to the 22 degree is to be killed, degree team.
On another note, with that 10th house Pisces stellium and Sun in the 10th = can probably see quite clearly what her job was.

Luckily (or unfortunately, depending on which camp You are in) no sign of the 22nd degree in this chart as well. And have to mention that this chart is rated AA.
I hope by now people who are desperately scared of the 22 degree can see that it doesn’t guarantee being killed. The association, if even there, is quite slim with being killed.
But what about the part of becoming a killer? Because the notorious degree was also associated with becoming a killer.
Don King, the famous boxing promoter has killed two people that we know of. Interesting to see here that Venus is on 22 degrees and he did stomp one of his employees (6th house) to death. And Venus is on 22 degrees in the 6th house by the Placidus house system. If You are scared right now and You have the same position = IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE! Please understand that at best this is an indication towards it = You will still be the one making decisions in Your life. Don’t take things so literally.
The Paralympian who killed his girlfriend and whose sentence was reviewed multiple times (added to the sentence).
Nothing on 22 degrees. Not even an asteroid (although I wouldn’t use these at all with this topic). No house cusps, no nothing. And he shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door. Again, having the 22 degree in Your chart doesn’t mean that You are going to be killed or going to become a killer 100%. As You can see.
Let’s look at a couple more examples.
Sid Vicious, the bass player for the Sex Pistols. Stabbed his girlfriend to death.
As there are conflicting statements etc. with this death and killing, we don’t know 100% what happened. But there’s no sign of the 22nd degree anywhere. Jupiter is closest = 21 degrees and 56 minutes. Close but no cigar.

This is a conflicting one because in Ted’s case there are no major influences sitting at 22 degrees. However, we can see that Black Moon Lilith is at 22 (minor influence in this case) and also the 5th and 11th house cusps. Half a point to the 22nd degree as the killer and killed degree here.
With such a prominent killer I was expecting to find more. For example, one of the personal planets, or angles. Even an outer planet. Nada. Close but not quite.
Let’s look at another serial killer just to be sure. John Wayne Gayce. John Wayne Gacy – WikipediaJohn Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender known as the Killer…en.wikipedia.org
The only one is Juno. The reason I even have it on the chart is that I use it for natal work. I don’t think this serves as even a quarter of a point.
How about house cusps? Not this time.
With people who have murdered and raped over 30 people, I was expecting to see more from the 22nd degree. An asteroid (Juno) and the Moon’s furthest point (Black Moon Lilith) don’t really count. If we would put all the asteroids etc. on the chart we would most likely find the 22 degrees in many charts.
We want the AC, IC, DC, MC, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, or at least one of the nodes at 22 degrees. I must say, the correlation is slim at best with this degree and “to kill or to be killed”.
That’s it for this difficult topic and I hope this at the very least shows that the 22nd degree is not always involved in killings or killers.

Thank you for talking about this. It’s really interesting. My sun is at 22 degrees. “Kill or be killed–” maybe not literally, but it feels like the stakes are quite high somehow, especially when it comes to the heart.
Have You experienced these themes in Your life in general? For example, having people close to You associated with kill or be killed themes?
Not in terms of actual death, like the gun violence examples you brought up. It’s kind of hard to explain but it feels like there’s no middle ground for me: either I go for what I want, be who I came here to be, love with everything I have in me, or I’ll be eaten alive by nothingness. It’s not comfortable; I always have to make these dramatic choices. “Attack” life or it will attack me.
